Wood Manufacturing in Central Africa

With over 178 million hectares of forests, the Congo Basin is the world’s second-largest contiguous rainforest. Despite its vast resource potential, it holds a marginal position in the global wood value chain; over 80% of its timber is exported as logs or minimally processed, with little to no secondary or tertiary wood processing. Advanced wood manufacturing offers significant potential for boosting economic growth and development, as well as reducing poverty-driven tree thefts that worsen deforestation.
At Green GEALL, we are dedicated to expanding wood manufacturing in sub-Saharan Africa to capitalise on both the economic and ecological benefits.
